When the U.S. Supreme Court back in January, Attorney General Elena Kagan will be back on the stand, the government's positions in favor of this term is increasingly difficult to sell to a court that is aggressively conservative muscles.

Kagan, who as secretary of a law of Supreme Court 25 years ago was routinely called "Shorty" by his boss, is now the main driver of the U.S. before that court. At 49, the dynamo with the ready smile has not added inches to his height, but his stature has grown.

Formerly dean of Harvard Law School, is the first woman to serve as U.S. attorney general and is often mentioned as a possible Supreme Court nominee.

Widely admired for his intellectual acumen and administrative capacity as dean of Harvard, Kagan, took over as attorney general in a large empty, gaping.
