Champlain Bridge, which connects New York to Vermont, will be demolished today. It was closed for security reasons. A report prepared by the Department of Transportation New York said a new bridge would cost at least 67 million U.S. dollars and take 22 months to build.

Crown Point, NY - The day of truth - and demolition - has come to the Champlain Bridge.

The 80-year-old bridge between Crown Point, New York, and Addison, Vermont, was reduced about 10 hours today with controlled explosions. The bridge was closed in October after engineers deemed unsafe. Its demolition is expected to begin a two-year process of building a replacement bridge.
