Happy January 2, 2010 ... and not just because we are on the second day in what some call a new decade.

For the second time in more than six centuries, the date can be read as a mirror image.

In the month-day-year format (DD-MM-YYYY) can be written as 01.02.2010, which is the version number of a palindrome. That is a word (rotator) or phrase (Madam, I'm Adam) that reads the same backwards and forwards.

The last time this happened was October 2, 2001 - o 10/02/2001 - said Aziz Inan, professor of electrical engineering at the University of Portland.

Kurt Westergaard's cartoon Mohammed nearly cost the 74-year-old Danish cartoonist of his life. An unidentified suspect, described by authorities as 28-year-old in Somalia, with links to al Qaeda, entered the house of Westergaard at 10PM local time last night (4 AM EST), but was arrested and shot by police Danish.

The suspect, shot in the leg and hand, was charged with attempted murder of Kurt Westergaard and a police officer on duty, the intelligence service. He was allegedly armed with a hatchet and a knife. The judge ordered the suspect held for four weeks while the investigation proceeds.

This is not the first attempt on the life of Kurt Westergaard from the Mohammed cartoon by Kurt Westergaard was published on 30 September 2005. This cartoon was the most controversial of the 12 Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons published in the document in a page of that day.
