The U.S. and the UK closed their embassies in Yemen on Sunday, citing threats from Al Qaeda. Coming a day after President Obama publicly linked to Al Qaeda in Yemen of the failed airline bomb plot on Christmas Day, signals that the U.S. motion is under increasing threat from Al Qaeda in Yemen, more seriously.

BBC News reports it's unclear how long both embassies closed. The U.S. embassy issued a statement saying it will close on Sunday but did not specify when the mission was reopened. Agence France-Presse also reported that the U.S. embassy sent a message to U.S. citizens in Yemen Thursday to remind the terrorist threat.
The U.S. embassy in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, has been attacked before: In 2008, a car bomb killed 19 people including an American.
